Sweet & Savory Goulash
Goulash is a soup or stew that contains meat and vegetables and is seasoned with paprika. Originally from Hungary, this dish is one of the national foods of this country and has become a staple across Europe with its thick, sweet sauce. This soup most often is made from meat, stock, noodles, vegetables (especially potatoes) and generously seasoned with paprika and other spices. It is a typical meal in many European countries, and it is also very delicious!
Instructions:
Heat the oil in a pan. Peel and chop the onions and garlic, adding them to the pan, and sauteing until translucent.
Add the paprika, give it a good stir, then add the chopped peppers.
Leave to cook for 2-3 minutes until it begins to soften a bit. Add the chicken and cook for a further 2-3 minutes until the chicken is no longer pink.
Pour in the chicken stock, and leave to cook until the liquid is reduced and the chicken and veggies are cooked through.
Season with crushed red pepper, salt, pepper to taste. Garnish with parsley.
When the meat is tender, mix the flour with a pinch of salt and some water. Using one soup spoon, make dumplings from the batter and place them on top of the goulash. Mix them gently into the goulash, then place a lid on the pan and let the dumplings cook for 10 minutes.
