Easy Ways To Say “I Love You”
SPEND TIME WITH THEM
Spending time with those close to you is the easiest way to tell them you love them. After all, time is one of the key components of any relationship. Check out these activities you can participate in with those you love while passing time together:
Find a Book To Read. Be it a devotional, comedy, or autobiography, reading a book together is a fun way to connect with those you love. Even the simple act of reading a bedtime story to your child can make their day— or night!
Take a Road Trip. Sometimes, despite all the hassle and stress road trips can bring, a nice, planned getaway with your family can be the perfect remedy to cabin fever. Looking for places to go? Check out our post on pandemic-friendly vacation destinations for ideas!
GIVE THEM A GIFT
Little Gifts. Most of the time, it’s the little thoughtful gifts that make the largest impact. From inside jokes to small trinkets, small gifts with loving intentions make the most memorable ones.
Gifts To Do Together. This goes hand-in-hand with spending time with your loved ones. Finding a gift that’s fun to do with others not only gives you another opportunity to spend time with them but also an opportunity for building your relationship while having fun! Books, board games, or crafts are perfect ideas for this!
The Ones On The Wishlist. We get it. After weeks of nagging about a certain gift, and when they receive something that isn't what they anticipated, it can be disappointing. Often, if you have a good idea of the kind of presents they look forward to or expect, it will make an amazing gift. It’s very touching when you notice the small glances they give at something they want very much and then take action on them— it lets them know you care and that you care about the things they enjoy.
FIND WAYS TO SERVE
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” (John 15:13)
Small acts of service aren’t just helpful— they can make your loved one’s day. After all, what says “I love you” more than love in action?
Make A Meal. Preparing their lunch before they head off to work or school is an easy way to show you care. If you want to go the extra mile, slipping little messages and notes into their packs is sure to make them smile.
Take On Chores That They Hate. Scheduling appointments, filling the car with gas, etc— these are all tasks that seem so tedious at times, and having someone do them for you isn’t just a relief but a touching action as well.
Ask “What Can I Help You With?” Sometimes, taking the time to ask if you can help them with anything is all it takes; it’s showing you care by taking the time to care.
Remember To Do The Things Asked Of You. The small act of taking a moment to recall important things can make a huge difference in someone’s day and in their attitude.
Do Something They Plan To Do Before They Get To It. It’s a pleasant surprise to get started on a task, only to realize that someone took the time to do it for you instead.
