Pumpkin Pizza Buns

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 3/4 tbsp instant yeast

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp milk powder

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt (optional)

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all purpose flower

  • pizza sauce

  • pepperoni slices

  • mozzarella cheese (shredded or fresh)

  • pepper stems (optional, for stem)

  • Butcher’s twine or oiled string

Instructions

  1. Combine milk and water, warming it up in a pan

  2. Add yeast and sugar to the mixture. Cover and let it rise for 10-15 minutes or until the yeast becomes puffy.

  3. Introduce the oil and yogurt into the mix. Then, gradually add in the flour and milk powder. Sprinkle in 2 tsp of salt.

  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-6 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic

  5. Brush the dough with oil, and then set it aside to let it rise until it doubles in size (30-60 minutes).

  6. Divide the dough in 16 pieces. Roll each into a small circle.

  7. Add a spoon of pizza sauce, some pepperoni slices, and mozzarella cheese. Seal into stuffed balls.

  8. Take oiled string and wrap it around the ball, forming a pumpkin shape with 8 sections. Tie a knot at the bottom.

  9. Put the pumpkins in a greased tray and let rise for 20 minutes. Brush them with an egg wash.

  10. Bake at 180C (350F) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully cut the strings off to avoid tearing the buns.
